Huntington's Care

Huntington's disease is a progressive disease and can affect both men and women in adulthood. The disease damages nerve cells in certain parts of the brain, which can affect movement, cognition, and behaviour. The effects will get worse overtime and eventually full nursing care will be required. People living with HD need to keep up their current skills and mobility for as long as possible and learn to develop new skills as the disease progresses. They will also need help and support with psychological needs managing emotional and behavioural symptoms. Planning for the future is critical to supporting someone with HD.

We work closely with the client and family, continually care planning and risk assessing to meet the client’s needs

Our staff are specialist trained in specific care needs such as PEG feeding and Moving and Handling.
